After a year-long lockdown, the music industry has slowly bounced back in the United States. As alternative rockers Dinosaur Jr. gear up for their upcoming North American tour in September to support their recently released album Sweep It Into Space, the band has decided to perform all tracks on the album for music fans around the world in a livestream format straight from the Sinclair in Boston, Massachusetts, on Sunday, May 2, at 8am (Bangkok time).
"Don't miss our livestream to celebrate the release of our new album. We can't wait to get back to touring and we've got some new songs to tide you over while you wait," said the band on their Facebook page.
Dinosaur Jr. was formed in Amherst, Massachusetts, in 1984 by childhood friends. The group is made up of guitarist and singer J Mascis, bassist Lou Barlow and drummer Murph. After releasing three albums on independent labels titled Dinosaur, You're Living All Over Me and Bug, the band earned a reputation for being a formative influence on American alternative rock music along with bands like Pixies, Nirvana and Sonic Youth. The sound they pioneered in the late-80s with effects-laden guitars, fuzzy bass and crashing drum sounds has permeated over the past 37 years.
The trio's 12th studio album Sweep It Into Space was released on April 23 via Jagjaguwar. Kurt Vile co-produced the record and three tracks have been released so far, including Take It Back, Garden and I Ran Away.
This crowd-less virtual event promises to be live with no pre-recorded stuff. It will begin at 8am (Bangkok time). Tickets are US$15 (472 baht) and on sale now with a $40 VIP option that includes soundcheck access and a pre-show Q&A.
