Examining the beauty of Asian celadon and porcelain, Japanese brand Suqqu noted how the surface, dubbed the "skin", boasts a smooth and shiny surface rendered by ceramic glazes.

The observation inspired the Smooth Cover Primer and Glow Powder Foundation as a make-up duo to create a glowing porcelain-like complexion

In pottery, the role of ceramic glazes is to correct the uneven surface of unglazed porcelain and add radiance.

Likewise, Suqqu's semi-sheer primer covers imperfections with a thick luscious film but filters light for a natural-looking finish. In addition, the milky-beige colour counteracts blemishes and dullness.

The formulation of the new primer also involved plant extracts from Satsuma mandarin skin, lemon and apricot seed.

Located in Kagoshima Prefecture, Satsuma is known for its pottery as well as its seedless and easy-peeling mandarin known as Citrus unshiu, which is used in traditional Eastern medicine.

In cosmetics, its peel extract containing phytochemicals is used for various beauty benefits such as brightening the skin.

The Smooth Cover Primer functions as a make-up base for subsequent application of the creamy Glow Powder Foundation that compares to the second layer of a ceramic glaze.

The Glaze Coating Formula is a combination of Smooth Fit Powder, Translucent Light Pearls and Rich Clear Oil. The powder and pearls are coated with oil before being pressed for a smooth texture. Upon application, the oil melts into the skin and adheres well in emulating the ceramic glaze.

Providing even coverage and a satiny finish, the powder foundation is available in nine shades, from light pink-beige to deep beige.
