Amusing and enchanting artworks by internationally acclaimed architect Bill Bensley will be on display during "Love -- Camp -- Explore -- Dreams" at the RCB Galleria of River City Bangkok, Charoen Krung 24, from Friday to Feb 22.

This is the first exhibition of the self-taught artist who put many of his works up for auction last year to raise funds for charitable causes. Having learned from other artists through observation, he came up with his own style which is full of humour, gorgeous details, brilliant colours and enchanting figures.

The story of this boy's works, which are available for sale online and at the exhibition, is told in four chapters, with a varied use of mediums from painting to sculpture, showing his evolution as an artist, as he delves into his surroundings to create art from daily life.

The "Love" part presents artworks about the love we share for each other as humans and also for our planet. Paintings on racism are presented with a touch of humour, juxtaposing traditional roles.

The "Camp" part is about the idiosyncratic behaviours of the LGBTI community in Thailand where he's resided for over 30 years, while the "Explore" shows the kind people of Papua who he met on remote islands two years ago, as well as pieces inspired by his travels to Portugal and Luang Prabang in Laos.

The "Dreams" part is an adventure into the figments of his imagination, where Bensley uses fire, wood, beeswax, baking soda, nails and ceramics to create art pieces. All proceeds from sale of the artworks will be donated to the Shinta Mani Foundation.

There is no admission fee. Visit rivercitybangkok.com or call 02-237-0077/8.
