Central Department Store's new campaign video portrays a black-clad young woman having to choose between a mechanical wristwatch or the intelligent Enigma gadget.
She picks the classic timepiece and the video conveys the message, "Discover the watch that defines you", promoting the Central International Watch Fair 2022, which runs until Oct 31 at Central department stores and via omnichannel platforms.
Over 100 brands are participating in this year's edition. The biggest showcase is on Central Chidlom's 3rd floor and the Event Hall, where visitors can discover a variety, from fashionable models and smartwatches to limited editions and complicated timepieces.
At the opening event, Pachara Chirathivat wore a Virtuoso X by Bovet 1822, who combined a patented flying-tourbillon, three time zones and a hemispherical Earth map with 24 cities for the high-complication model in an Amadeo convertible case.
While Bovet 1822 celebrates 200 years of watchmaking, Longines is a bit younger at 190.
Tracing its history, the 190th anniversary exhibition features vintage timepieces from the Longines Museum in Saint-Imier. The Swiss brand also marks the milestone with limited edition Longines Master watches available in 190 pieces.

This year, Grand Seiko celebrates the 55th anniversary of the first watch embodying the Grand Seiko style, the 44GS, through new models under the Heritage collection. The commemorative timepiece is inspired by the natural beauty surrounding the Shinshu Watch Studio, with the texture of the dial evoking morning clouds around the Shinshu mountains.
Breitling highlights its Navitimer, originally developed in the 1950s as a wrist-worn instrument with a circular slide rule for the US Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). The Navitimer's 70th anniversary collection is redesigned with dials in bold colours, enhanced styling and the AOPA wings making a comeback at 12 o'clock.
Under Central Retail, Central Department Store also calls for a celebration of its 75th anniversary. Casio marks the milestone with the G-Shock GA-B001 Central 75th Anniversary in bright red. The Japanese brand also premiered the G-Shock Frogman 30th Anniversary Limited Edition at the Central International Watch Fair 2022 before anywhere else in the world.
