Sala Sudasiri Sobha is holding a jazz concert featuring award-winning vocalist Yumi Ito, on Saturday at 8pm.

This is the first opportunity for local audiences to see the Swiss-Polish-Japanese vocalist, songwriter, producer and arranger perform an amalgam of jazz, art-pop and neo-classical in Bangkok.

The programme will feature music from her album Stardust Crystals, which was in the Top 10 of best releases in 2020 by Jazz Thing, a leading European magazine.

Based in Basel, Switzerland, Ito won a prize at the Montreux Jazz Vocal Competition, ZKB Jazz Award Moods Semifinal, and Generations Festival in Switzerland.

She grew up in a multicultural Polish-Japanese family of musicians in Zurich where she first studied classical piano literature before transitioning to pursue a singing career in jazz.

Her lyrics depict socially realistic everyday events and reflect on society -- stories big and small, with something at heart. Enchanted, mysterious song pearls can be experienced on the Album Release tour where she performs with her two regular musicians, Iago Fernández and Kuba Dworak.

Fernández is a drummer and composer from Galicia, Spain. He has played internationally with musicians such as Steve Nelson, Albert Sanz, Jorge Rossy, Guillermo Klein and David Vireilles. He has recorded more than 30 albums as a sideman and three albums as a leader.

Dworak, meanwhile, is a freelance double bass player. He studied double bass and jazz at the Music Academy in Katowice. As a sideman, he has already played on over 30 albums.

He graduated from Jazzcampus Basel with a master's degree in performance, composition and pedagogy. Tours have taken him all over Europe, to China and the US.

Tickets for the concert cost 800 baht and can be purchased from salasudasirisobha.com. Sala Sudasiri Sobha is located on Ladprao 41 Yaek 7-2.
