The past, present and future co-exist in "Timeless Path", which is running at Four Seasons Art Space by Moca Bangkok at Four Seasons Hotel, Charoen Krung Road, until April 2.
The exhibition demonstrates artist Torlarp Larpjaroensook's attempt to connect to something beyond our world, into the deep space beyond our common logic and perception.
The centrepiece of this show is Voyager (2022), an installation inspired by Nasa's Voyager I that was launched in 1977 and is 23.5 billion kilometres away from Earth. It is displayed alongside a screen showing real-time information on the spacecraft on a wooden frame that was once part of Torlarp's old family boat.
Another interesting piece is Signal which reminds viewers of a time prior to the invention of smartphones. This was when we had to write down phone numbers and remembered the numbers of those close to us by heart. An old phone dial links to a light on the screen revealing an image of the artist's childhood home where he lived with his grandmother in Ayutthaya.
Also exhibited are installations made from household objects widely used in the past. The past, present and future are intertwined in this show, leaving viewers to ponder their life and position within this particular moment, space and time.
Objects of memory have been rearranged and assembled to replicate a spaceship, suggesting their new purpose and significance.
