Central Embassy celebrates the Chinese New Year, welcoming the Year of the Rabbit with "Chinese New Year 2023: The Luckiest Empire" until Jan 29.
If you are keen on capturing scenes of this year's celebrations, the shopping destination goes all out by transforming into "The Luckiest Empire", with decorations amping up the festive ambience. Highly visible throughout the mall is contemporary paper-cut art made in Chinese patterns for visitors to snap an auspicious shot with.
In front of the shopping mall is where the Gate of Fortune is located, enticing visitors to enter the kingdom of the most fortunate. As you enter the realm of luck on the G level, you will be amazed by a replica of a water pavilion in the centre of the shopping mall, named "The Pavilion Of Great Blessings". As the name suggests, you can participate in plenty of fortune-attracting activities, such as shaking up chi-chi sticks (siam si) for future readings and getting crafty at a Chinese paper-cut art workshop. There is also the Lucky Tea House, where you experience Taiwanese tea tasting while tracing the history of tea culture.

"The Luckiest Tunnel", the passageway between Central Embassy and Central Chidlom, is hyped up with countless Chinese lanterns and red envelopes, creating wondrous hanging decorations. Apart from taking advantage of photogenic settings, visit Chinatown Market on the 5th floor to browse through an array of jewellery and auspicious Chinese amulets. On Jan 21-22, visitors will be blessed by a lion parade marching throughout the mall at 1pm and 5pm, while the highlight is on Jan 22, when the nine-coloured lion dance will perform in front of the Central Embassy to roar into the Chinese New Year at 5pm.

If you're looking to blow your ang pao money on shiny new stuff, Central Embassy is rolling out a voucher set for B30,000, which is packed with cash vouchers and dining credits, for Central The 1 and Krungsri credit card holders. Nine top spenders who shop over two million baht can redeem a "Luckiest Year Of The Rabbit" charm from Nina the Jewel and an auspicious rabbit pendant. A B1,500 cash voucher will be awarded to customers who dine at any restaurant. Those spending at least B5,000 at restaurants from Jan 21-22 can receive a B2,500 dining voucher while having a chance to win a voucher from the Korean fine dining restaurant Juksunchae for two people.
Central Embassy has also joined the government’s "Shop Dee Mee Kuen" (shop and payback) bandwagon, offering a tax deduction of up to B14,000 per person for shoppers who spend up to B40,000 on products and services. The campaign ends on Feb 15.
