Landmeé's I Got You Babe summer collection takes inspiration from the iconic star's 60s look

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

Last May, Netdaw Vattanasimakorn celebrated the 20th anniversary of Landmeé, which was initially synonymous with vintage 70s-style outfits.

Now the creative director goes back a bit further to the summer of 1965, when Sonny & Cher’s I Got You Babe topped the charts.

An opposing sentiment to Bob Dylan’s It Ain’t Me Babe, the No.1 hit was written by Sonny Bono with simple lyrics.

Netdaw revisited 1960s and 1970s fashion trends paralled to Sonny & Cher’s music career in designing Landmeé’s summer 2023 collection.

“We looked at Cher’s style but their relationship as a young sweetheart couple and their signature song also inspired the I Got You Babe collection,” said Netdaw, whose nickname is Meé.

The brand name refers to the land of Meé, where the design process starts with sketches of the ready-to-wear items.

Materials and techniques are then chosen for each piece. For instance, linen is one of the fabrics ideal for fashioning the summerwear.

Designs revolve around geometric, floral and heart shapes and a palette of yellow, pink, green and purple with black as a contrasting colour in certain pieces.

“We all agreed with using crochet as the collection’s key design element,” added Netdaw. “Details whether buckles, buttons or print are elegantly enhanced by intricate lace.”

Over two decades, the Thai fashion label has evolved with the use of lace, patchwork, hand embroidery and heart-shaped motifs featured in the new designs.

The song title is embraced as bold typography in a heart on T-shirts and on the back of a denim jacket.

The collection also includes swimsuit and beachwear, nostagically designed to recall the summer of the 60s and 70s when people enjoyed sunbathing and drinking iced lemonade.

The I Got You Babe collection is available at Landmeé Flagship Store on Level 2 of Central Embassy. Shop via Line Official @landmee.
