Blancpain’s updated Ladybird Colors collection offers dainty luxury on the wrist

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

Nature designed tiny ladybirds with bright colours as a defence mechanism to ward off predators.

On the contrary, Blancpain dresses its latest models in midnight blue, peacock green, forest green, lilac or turquoise to draw attention to the Ladybird Colors collection.

Further adorned with diamonds, the eye-catching timepieces are technically equipped with complications that celebrate its heritage in women’s watches.

Founded in 1735, Blancpain is actually the world’s oldest watchmaking brand, now based in Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux.

In 1930, the maison created the world’s first automatic women’s wristwatch, named Rolls, with an ingenious sliding system to wind the mechanism.

Launched in 1956, the Ladybird was powered by the smallest round movement of the time.

Believing in women’s appreciation of magical mechanical watches, the Swiss brand constantly develops feminine timepieces with horological complications previously reserved for men.

Blancpain has smoothly integrated a small-seconds or moon-phase display into the design of the Ladybird Colors collection.

In an 18-carat white or red gold case, five versions feature the small-seconds indicator and five iterations in forest green, turquoise or midnight blue boast the poetic moon-phase complication.

Characterising the new models, the visual balance is subtly ruffled by an asymmetrical touch found on elements of the textured mother-of-pearl dial.

The offset Roman numerals are underscored by an inner ring sparkling with diamonds that also encircle the small seconds or moon-phase indicators at 6 o’clock.

Blancpain’s gemsetting expertise ensures that each parameter is meticulously hand-adjusted to ensure optimal radiance.

More precious stones illuminate the bezel, lugs and crown of the dainty case with a diameter of 34.9mm.

The small-seconds and moon-phase variations are respectively powered by self-winding Calibre 1163 and Calibre 1163L providing a four-day power reserve.

The caseback’s sapphire crystal reveals the movement’s painstakingly decorated components and gold oscillating weight, whose circular openwork pattern harmoniously reflects the design of Ladybird Colors’ vivid dial.
