Home Is A Way Of Life. Way Of Life Is Home / La Lanta Fine Art / Until Dec 14

This duo exhibition by Sitvut Prabripoo and Komsan Phetsit is presented in two parts, thus its two-sentence title. It explores ways of life in the natural world and in urban culture. Sitvut explores the first part through visuals of sceneries depicting animals in their natural habitat. He combines the Thai traditional craftsmanship of gradient-coloured glass with oil painting, resulting in atmospheric landscape depiction of forests, mountains, lotus ponds and ocean waves. On the other hand, Komsan presents a series of sculpture installations based on the scenes in the Thai-Chinese Charoenkrung area that are slowly changing through time. Collecting information from community maps, old photographs and shophouse materials, he manipulates the materials into a semi-abstract presentation. The interwoven nature of the installations signifies collective memories and records of events that happened in this Bangkok community which is ‘home’ to many of us. As part of the exhibition, La Lanta Fine Art offers “Coloured Glass Art Workshop” conducted by Sitvut. The participants get to learn how to create the artwork using the technique with a contemporary touch. It'll be held on Nov 18 from 2-4pm and Nov 25 from 2-4pm. Up to eight people per session.
