Art lovers are invited to embark on a journey of spiritual liberation during "Firehead: Soul Liberate" which is running at RCB Galleria 2 of River City Bangkok, Charoen Krung 24, until Jan 7.
The exhibition represents a significant step in which Songsin Tiewsoomboon, a painter and literary artist celebrated for his creation of characters, aims to lead viewers into the vast world of Firehead through surreal artworks.
On show are large-scale artworks including original pieces from his graphic novels, and 38 pieces of his canvas paintings. They are the result of his dual identity as an artist and a writer, merging to create profound works rich in meaning and energy through both literary and visual art simultaneously.
For Songsin, Firehead and characters within his narratives are not confined to the pages. They embody lives within an alternative realm, one that he encourages others to explore. His artistic endeavours, storytelling and a wide array of art forms developed over more than two decades have established a connection between these two worlds.
Songsin's graphic novel works and literature have been published in Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam, China and Japan. He earned the accolades including the Graphic Novel Award from the Seven Book Awards and a nomination for the outstanding literary creation of Southeast Asia in 2021 from SEA Write.
One of his proudest achievements is the novel series Beansprout And Firehead which comprises 10 volumes and has been reprinted many times since its initial volume was released in 2005.
The series has made the iconic character of Firehead recognised as his representative, raising questions about the world and challenging conventional thinking through artworks with Firehead as the central figure.
