Bangkok Illustration Fair is back

Hundreds of illustrations by 150 artists from eight countries will be showcased during the "Bangkok Illustration Fair (BKKIF) 2023" at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Pathumwan intersection, from Thursday to Sunday.

For the third edition of the annual event organised by Happening, Dexembell and What If, up to 767 illustration artists from 23 countries applied to participate. Out of the 150 artists selected, 132 are from Thailand and 18 others are from the Philippines, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, China, Ukraine and Myanmar.

Their illustrations will be exhibited at the main exhibition hall on the 7th floor of the art centre and visitors can engage in discussions and exchange ideas and inspiration up close with the artists who will also put their products for sale there.

Their works will be evaluated by 60 "Reviewers" from various organisations, agencies, brands and international event organisers, who will select their favourite artist and offer a "Reward", or an opportunity, tailored to the artist's interests and talents.

Invited to present a diverse range of illustrated art for viewers to appreciate will be 17 guest artists including Ardneks (Indonesia), Tomoaki Murayama (Japan), Taipei Illustration Fair (Taiwan) and Seoul Illustration Fair (Korea).

The guest artists from Thailand will be Phanom Suwanaboon, Pangnual Studio, Juli Baker and Summer, May-T Noijinda, Mushroom Studio, Sorarak Tikaphanya (Archive026), Benzilla, Pariwat Anatachina, Lili Tae, NatDao, Rukkit and Suzu.

The fair will also feature many activities in the halls of the 1st and 5th floors open for free admission. Running on the first floor will be the BKKIF photo booth, sales of commemorative items, the "Image - Illustration - City" exhibition showing how illustrations contribute to cityscape, a showcase by art students from Bangkok University, Silpakorn University, Assumption University and King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi.

Set to display on the 5th floor will be the "Sunflowers" exhibition by BKKIF x SC Assets and creative showcases by Canon, KPP Antalis, Central Tham and Birdy Cafe.

Tickets to the main exhibition hall cost 150 baht per day (250 baht for a four-day pass including a complimentary set of BKKIF2023 postcards, limited to 700 sets) and can be purchased from eventpop.me/s/bkkif2023.
