Last Friday saw the grand opening of Emsphere shopping mall in Phrom Phong with the new Ikea Sukhumvit located on the 3rd floor.

The city centre store is part of a key strategy for Ikea's expansion around the world and Ikea Sukhumvit is the first store in Southeast Asia under this concept.

This opening of the fourth store in Thailand coincides with Ikea's 80th anniversary. The three other stores are in Bangna, Bang Yai and Phuket.

The Thai subsidiary is part of Ikano Retail, the only franchise owned by the family of Ingvar Kamprad -- the Swedish entrepreneur, who at the age of 17 founded Ikea in 1943.

The global vision is to create a better everyday life for people by offering a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at affordable prices.

Spanning 12,000m² and housing up to 8,254 products, Ikea Sukhumvit addresses diverse needs and lifestyles of turbanites, who can find new ideas and inspiration to adorn their rooms, condominiums, houses or offices.

The Showroom zone provides examples of how each room can be furnished and decorated to elevate the living or work space. Moreover, a consultation service at the Ikea Planning Studio will help out with kitchen design, bathroom solutions and other projects.

Two other zones are dedicated to the Self-serve Warehouse and the Market Hall. Commanding a panoramic view of Benchasiri Park, the restaurant accommodates up to 530 seats. Its menu features Swedish cuisine and three new dishes exclusively available at Ikea Sukhumvit during its launch period.

The opening is also marked by the Aurtiende collection featuring various items such as hoodies, hats and bags in bold colours that reflect the dynamic lifestyle in Bangkok. Swedish for original, Aurtiende encourages people to be themselves and celebrate their uniqueness.
