After a three-year hiatus, Bo.lan, the renowned Thai restaurant is delighted to announce its reopening this month.
The establishment returns with a rivatalised commitment to zero waste, sustainability and supporting local food communities.
Thailand’s food tradition is reflected in Bo.lan’s two signature tasting menus, both representing based on a balance of flavour, texture and seasonality. Menus begin with an amuse bouche, each a flavourful snapshot of regional diversity in the form of small yet explosive bites. Main courses are then served all together in a samrub style consisting of soup, salad, curry, relish and its elaborately prepared accompaniments along with the best quality organic rice, the heart and soul of any Thai meal. The menus end with a series of desserts and Thai petit fours served with the signature Bo.lan tea blend.
The menus continue to support a network of local farmers with whom the restaurant has worked with for more than a decade. Each dish being a culmination of relationships between the farmers and producers, who all have a hand in ensuring that every single dish at Bo.lan tells a story about Thailand's rich culinary heritage and biodiversity. Keeping in theme with being eco-friendly, the restaurant will push towards achieving a zero carbon footprint with its sustainable practices. From sourcing the ingredients, including meat and seafood, to composting kitchen waste through upcycling programmes and reduction of chemical waste through home-made cleaning products, Bo.lan aims to offer environmentally-conscious dining without compromising on taste.
The restaurant has revitalised the house in its existing location on Sukhumbvit 53 with a lush green edible garden. A retreat from the busy street it is on, Bo.lan's interiors, from the displayed artworks, furniture to tableware, were created by local Thai craftsmen reflecting a harmonious fusion of Thai aesthetics. The space also houses The Food Trust café and Bolan Education Program.
"We are thrilled to reopen Bo.lan and share our passion for Thai cuisine with our patrons once again," said chef Duangporn "Bo" Songvisava. "The past three years have been a journey of self-discovery and culinary exploration, and we can't wait to showcase the results."
"Bo.lan has always been a pioneer in elevating Thai dining, and our loyal customers can look forward to a reimagined experience that pays homage to our roots," added chef Dylan Jones, the other half of Bo.lan.
Bo.lan was founded by chefs Bo and Jones in 2009, and the name, which comes from the names of the chef duo, is also a play on the Thai word for vintage or ancient.
