His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana recently made a private visit to Phuket to practise for the 35th Phuket King's Cup Regatta which took place earlier this month at Kata Beach in the Muang district of Phuket.

The event was hosted by the Royal Varuna Yacht Club, the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand and the PKCR Organising Committee.

During the event, the Queen also took part in the competition as a crew member on the Vayu THA72 in the IRC Zero class.

The competition featured seven types of boat category -- IRC Zero, IRC One, Premier, Bareboat Charter, Monohull Cruising, Multihull Racing and Multihull Cruising.

The event also featured International Dinghy Classes, races for small sailboats including the Optimist, ILCA 4, Open Skiff and Monohull Dinghy Handicap.

Every year, the Phuket King's Cup Regatta is a magnet for leading sailboat athletes from all over the world. This year in particular, there were participating athletes from 14 countries -- Thailand, Australia, the United States, Germany, Belgium, Estonia, France, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, China, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
