New collabs to bring out the best in spirit-style!
A sustainable collaboration
The Macallan has announced a collaboration with Stella and Mary McCartney, united by curiosity, respect and admiration for the natural world.
Stella and Mary have partnered with The Macallan on the creation of the third edition of The Harmony Collection, a limited annual release series, which shines a spotlight on the brand’s inherent curiosity and innovative and creative mindset. It includes The Macallan Harmony Collection Amber Meadow, inspired by The McCartney sisters’ love of Scotland, which stems from their memories in the Scottish countryside.
To mark this deep connection with the land, the presentation boxes and bottle labels have been made using discarded meadow cuttings embracing the re-use of natural materials to create beauty from resources at the end of their lives. The packaging of each release features photography of The Macallan Estate captured by Mary McCartney.
The Macallan Whisky Mastery Team has taken inspiration from natural Scottish grasslands to create two distinctive, limited-edition whiskies, using a combination of sherry-seasoned oak and bourbon casks.
The whisky is a single malt redolent of warm meadows and mature barley fields, with a rich, citrus-scented finish. The 100% natural summer evening colour derived from our exceptional sherry-seasoned oak and bourbon casks reflects the richness of the flavour which awaits. On the nose fresh citrus fruits and honeysuckle are complemented by hints of vanilla, coconut and ripe barley fields. On tasting, notes of oak, lemon, melon are prominent, accompanied by flavours of classic scone and almond with green tea, before giving way to a rich and sweet long finish.
The new ‘Nexts’
Glenfiddich returns with its fourth edition of "The Where Next Club" in Thailand. The special brand campaign is localised all over the world and aims to unite individuals with captivating tales, encouraging them to share their experiences and qualities, igniting a chain reaction of inspiration, guiding us towards a limitless array of new “Nexts”.
"The Where Next Club" has enlisted mavericks Burin Boonvisut, Winchana Prucksananont and Chatchawarn Janthachotibutr, who will be sharing "The Progressive Next", where each has stepped into another level of success in life under the concept of “Collaborate To Innovate Our Next”. The concept stems from the idea that creating the Next can happen through the exchange and sharing of what is perceived as the "Single Best Quality” and combining that with the possibilities of collective creative ideas.
Start the journey with Burin, a seasoned veteran in the music industry, who has played various roles in his life, whether as a singer and musician in the Groove Riders band or as an executive in auto companies. His interest in jazz along with sound wave designs has seamlessly integrate into the “Socialsphere Showcase”.
Winchana Prucksananont is the second-generation heir of Koh Munnork Private Island and co-founder of Sunne Voyage, a boat tour business. By staying close to nature and engaging with neighbouring communities, Winchana is contributing to designing furniture inspired by materials from the island.
Chatchawarn Janthachotibutr, who is Leica Thailand Ambassador, owner of The Tangerine café in Phuket and The Place in Khao Lak, is driven by his passion for photography, Chatchawarn shares the inspiration behind this work, stating, “It might not just be about the photographs, but rather a space where you can have quality conversations together, through stories and various emotions conveyed in the moments captured.”
The three collaborated with Glenfiddich and Lloyd’s Club to craft special cocktail creations, which will be served at the club until May 31.
An icon re-imagined
Penfolds recently unveiled a new collaboration for their flagship wine, Grange. The “Grange By Nigo" release celebrates the first-ever design takeover of Grange, marking a momentous milestone for Penfolds in its 180th anniversary year.
Inspired by his first visit to Penfolds Magill Estate Winery in south Australia in 2022 and his time with the Penfolds, Nigo has re-imagined the design of Grange for this one-off series. The release includes collectable 750ml and 1.5L gift boxes to house the 2019 Grange. Each box is individually numbered and includes a bandana and bottle neck tag designed by Nigo, plus an authenticity certificate.
The design approach pays tribute to Grange in Nigo’s signature style, featuring a bold and colourful grape graphic and Penfolds logo reimaged through Human Made’s iconic typography. Nigo has also designed a silk rug for this series. With only 25 rugs available globally, the design heroes a silk dyed purple grape design to mirror that of the wine’s secondary pack. Each 2.5m x 2.5m rug is handwoven by artisans in Nepal, who spent two months making each piece.
Known as one of the founding fathers of street fashion, Nigo created his first clothing label, in Tokyo in 1993. He is now creative director of his independent brand Human Made and the artistic director at LVMH owned Maison Kenzo. Nigo continues to pursue his creativity in his work through fashion brands and in musical projects, as well as in the practice of photography and traditional Japanese ceramic art.
