Gourmet Market and Gourmet Eats are organising Gourmet Fruit First, which brings the finest fruity flavours of the season to all branches of The Mall Lifestore and Emsphere, until June 23.

The Thai fruit festival features a selection of premium grade fresh fruits from the best sources across the four regions, as well as over 30 species of protected geographical indication (GI) registered fruit from 40 sources.

They include durian grown with brackish water in Chanthaburi, chanee Koh Chang durian from Trat, nam hom Bang Khla coconut from Chachoengsao, and Trat see thong pineapple.

This is also an opportunity to search for high-priced fruits that is hard to find and has limited production, such as durian from Nonthaburi, Oji Yuri melon that has the same flavour as those grown in Japan, mangosteen harvested from the trees aged over 100 years, super red jackfruit and ok rong mango.

A highlight is Fast Fruit, a ready-to-eat concept store that offers a fun and convenient way of tasting fruits. Visitors can have the fruits they purchase peeled, sliced or cut into pieces or enjoy a customisable, ready-to-eat fruit set with over 20 kinds of fruits to choose from.

The store also has a trendy smoothie bar serving customisable fruit drinks, as well as a fruit and dip bar offering a mixture of both fresh and pickled fruits and a variety of dips.

The You Hunt We Cook station is serving two special dishes made from popular Thai fruits -- som tam durian and shrimp curry with salak, while more than 50 famous shops have come up with savoury and sweet dishes that have fruits as the main ingredients.

The festival is running at The Mall Bangkapi until Wednesday. Then it will move to The Mall Ngamwongwan from Thursday until May 29, The Mall Thapra from May 30 to June 5, The Mall Korat from June 6-12 and finally Emsphere from June 7-23.
