APCOM and three regional community partners -- APN+, APTN and ILGA Asia -- have announced nominations for the 8th Asia Pacific Hero Awards 2024.

The awards honours those active in the LGBTI and HIV field in Thailand and throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Standing for HIV, Equality and Rights, the Hero Awards is an annual gala in Bangkok. It shines a spotlight on the region's LGBTI communities, as well as those who have made significant contributions to the HIV response in the Asia Pacific region.

Community members, supporters and allies throughout the region are invited to nominate individuals and organisations across 10 categories who directly help others and whose work is improving the well-being of others or whose achievements are inspiring others.

The categories include Business Ally, Community Ally, Community Hero, Community Organisation, Health & Wellbeing, HIV Hero, Social Justice, Transgender Hero, Young Achiever, and the latest LBQ Hero, which recognises the work of a lesbian, bisexual or queer person who has improved the lives of LBQ people in any capacity in specific countries in Asia and the Pacific or across the region more broadly.

Last year's Hero Awards saw 17 individuals and organisations honoured. That was the first time that Papua New Guinea, the only country from the Pacific region, received an Award for Community Organisation by the Key Population Advocacy Consortium.

Nominations close on June 30. Visit
