A match made in heaven at khao yai

The social and film worlds converged at the mountain resort recently to attend the wedding ceremony of Grace Mahadumrongkul and Commander Jongjade Vatcharanunt

Without a doubt one of the most high-profile weddings of the year was that of Grace Mahadumrongkul and her handsome beau, Commander Jongjade Vatcharanunt of the Royal Thai Air Force's Civil Affairs Department.

The engagement ceremony was a private affair among family members and took place at the family home following the wishes of the bridal couple. The wedding and reception, however, were much more elaborate, taking place at Kirimaya Khao Yai and attended by top society names _ Grace's mother, Gloria, is a doyenne of the Thai social scene _ as well as the film industry, as both bride and groom were in the cast of the film Naresuan.

The bride was resplendent in a sleeveless Vera Wang gown set off by a striking sapphire and diamond necklace and earring set. Her father, Chairoj, walked her down the aisle in the outdoor setting and presented her to the waiting groom for the Christian ceremony.

When it was time to throw the bouquet, most of the ladies lined up with eager anticipation, hoping to be the next at the altar. But the one who snatched away the bridal bouquet turned out to be young Achirawat Masayavanich, son of Krirkphol and Chayada. Take your time, young man! Don't rush it!

For the evening reception, the bride changed out of her Vera Wang into an elegant lace concoction with a plunging V back by Monique Lhuillier.

Speeches were made by the bride's father as well as film director Prince MC Chatrichalerm Yukol.

The couple then cut a five-tier wedding cake made of cupcakes, and the bride opened the dancefloor with her father, while the groom took his mother-in-law's hand _ a bit nervously perhaps, knowing that she is an accomplished ballroom dancer.
