InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit opens with 'foodie staycation'

InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit has officially opened along with Rogues, the new speakeasy-meets-supper club where curated cocktails are complemented by live jazz performances.

Set to open on Feb 1, the dimly-lit stylish cocktail bar completes InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit’s F&B line-up alongside Ava Brasserie and The Lobby. A brief look at each of them.

On the 2nd floor, Rogues gives off a vibe of Prohibition-era speakeasy, with swanky jazz music playing through a vintage jukebox, wood-and-copper finishes and golden art deco accents. Rogues' cocktails are crafted from diverse ingredients and inspirations, near and far. Jay Gatsby's lavish parties give birth to "Salute To The World" while "Samurai Angel" derives its inspiration from Kill Bill. Locally-inspired cocktails include "Krung Thep dessert", a unique twist on the much-loved mango sticky rice; and Spicy Guava Fizz, a liquid version of fresh guava with spicy plum dip. To go with creative drinks are creative bites, which include Doughnut made with sai oua sausage, lemongrass and kaffir leaf bechamel, Budin blanc containing chicken sausage and creole sauce, and Cajun boule featuring chicken popcorn and smoked gouda remoulade sauce.

Ava Brasserie, curated by chef Roberto Bellitti, offers a brasserie-style international menu inspired by popular destinations such as London, New York, Tokyo, Miami, Frankfurt and Bangkok. The "Gourmet Tour Around The Cities" Weekend Buffet Brunch promises to be an exploration of the culinary capitals of the world. Highlights include salad and appetiser selections, hot dishes such as Tom yum goong, Chicken schnitzel with lemon butter sauce and Gourmet beef and pork sliders. À la carte options include the likes of Fried fish with avocado, salsa and chilli sauce, as well as Roast beef sirloin with Yorkshire pudding, carrots and roast potato. Save room for dessert options such as Mango sticky rice mousse cups, Eton mess parfaits with fresh berries and Yuzu cheesecake bites. The Sunday weekend brunch is inclusive of soft drinks, water, coffee and tea with various beverage packages available. The "Gourmet Tour Around The Cities" is on Sundays until Feb 25 from noon-3pm.

The Lobby celebrates the connection between the Land Of Smiles and the Land Of The Rising Sun, offering an original blend of Thai tea and Japanese green tea ceremonies. The Lobby also offers exclusively blended coffee by Sarnies and tea options from well-known tea houses such as Char Flower Tea, TWG, and Peace Oriental Teahouse, as well as a selection of Thai craft chocolates from KanVeLa. The Aviation Afternoon Tea set features a selection of sweet and savoury bites whose recipes are from around the world such as Scallop ceviche with black leche de tigre and New York-style mini lobster roll and Bearnaise-style cheesecake mousse. Served daily from 2-4pm until Feb 29 at either The Lobby or Ava Brasserie. The set comes with optional two glasses of wine.

On Sukhumvit Road between Thong Lor and Ekamai, InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit is offering an exclusive foodie staycation to mark its opening. It entails one night in a Classic Room, daily breakfast for two at Ava Brasserie, an afternoon tea for two at The Lobby and B1,500 credit to be used at any F&B outlets. The staycation is available via its website until June 30.
