Last chance to enjoy a special sunset in Buri Ram
Phanom Rung Light Phenomenon.

Today is the last chance for those vacationing in Buri Ram to view dawn through the 15 doors of the ancient Khmer-style stone castle during the Phanom Rung Light Phenomenon. Prasat Hin Phanom Rung was constructed between the 10th and 13th centuries as a devotion to Shiva and replicates his throne hall on Mount Kailash, which serves as the centre of the Hindu universe.

The phenomenon takes place four times a year. The two sunrise events happen between April 3-5 and Sept 8-10 and the two sunset events occur between March 5-7 and Oct 5-7. According to Khmer inscriptions, this ancient structure was the work of Narentharathitta, a member of the Mahithon Pura dynasty who was connected to the cousin of King Suryavarman II who built Angkor Wat.

Krabi marks Laanta Lanta Festival

The Baan Sri Raya community in the southern town of Krabi comes to life with the Laanta Lanta Festival 2024, which takes place from today until Saturday to commemorate Koh Lanta's 123rd anniversary. Designed around the theme of "Great Nature, Glorious Culture", a procession of over 100 long-tailed boats will float across the Gulf of Thailand in honour of the sea gods, praying for their protection and prosperity.

On land, tourists can relish the nostalgic atmosphere of Sri Raya Walking Street and local cuisine as a group of locals perform a variety of traditional acts that capture the distinctive way of life in fishing communities. The beach will become a lively entertainment venue thanks to a troop of well-known reggae musicians including South Paradise, Laanta Brother Band and Somrom Band.

In an art competition, a group of talented artists will display a selection of creative sculptures made from leftover materials to promote environmental conservation, and several tourism communities will also offer a wide range of handcrafted keepsakes.

Irish spirit to shine at St Patrick's Festival

From March 15-18, the ancient city of Dublin, Ireland, is hosting the St Patrick's Festival and this year's National St Patrick's Day Parade will feature around 4,000 participants strolling through the historical streets, along with 18 pageants and performance showpieces, as well as 14 marching bands from across Ireland, North America and France.

The festival has collaborated with pageant companies and partners to explore the different interpretations of Spréach, which honours the Irish spirit. The National Museum of Ireland serves as a primary venue, which provides a main stage, performance spaces, a mini-funfair and the Irish Food and Craft Village.

The highlight is Cultúr Club's return, bringing a wide range of live music, DJ sets and drag performances from the LGBTI community. A multi-stage LGBTI dance party with a variety of musical genres, including techno, trad and disco, is to be expected.
