Siam Society is holding a two-day study trip to explore ancient forests and vibrant nature in Rayong and Chon Buri, from May 24-25.

Located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand, the two provinces are recognised as one of the country's most popular tourist destinations that boast abundant natural resources. Both are celebrated for their excellent natural environment, delightful beaches, tropical fruit and fresh seafood.

Popular among Bangkokians seeking an escape, the coastal provinces are also known for their natural fertilisation and tropical climate. Both Rayong and Chon Buri are home to a huge agricultural industry in terms of both economic fruits and valuable natural resources.

Led by naturalist and scientist Weerachai Nanakorn, the trip will stop at Rayong Botanical Garden where participants will explore the natural wetlands and botanicals by boat and on foot along the trail. The garden is reputed for over 400 species of native and endangered plants. Then, they will proceed to the Flora Exhibition Hall where winter flowers such as tulips, hydrangeas and daffodils have been displayed in an energy-saving and environmentally-friendly building.

The last destination will be Nong Nooch Garden, a world-class tropical botanical garden and learning centre in Chon Buri.

The fee is 8,700 baht (7,700 baht for members).
