Cops find 'getaway car' of hitman

As police continue to search for more suspects in Sunday's fatal shooting of a man and woman in broad daylight at a tourist attraction in Chon Buri's Sattahip district, they now believe they have found one of three vehicles used in the criminals' escape.

Found abandoned by the side of the Khao Hin Son-Sa Kaeo Road in Ban Thap was a Toyota Vigo pickup truck carrying a Phuket licence plate.

The owner was later confirmed to be 39-year-old Panya Yingdang, said Pol Col Phirom Jantharaphirom, chief of Muang district police station in Sa Kaeo.

Mr Panya, a businessman who owns the Pum Pui nightclub in a red-light district in Phuket's famous Bangla Road, in Patong, is one of two suspects still on the run. The other is Jirasak Unaiban, 34, a resident of Phuket.

Pol Col Phirom said the truck looks like it was abandoned by Kiatisak Surangsaengboon, another suspect who has yet to face an arrest warrant.

On Tuesday, the Chon Buri provincial court issued warrants for three suspects including 43-year-old Sayan Sisuk, a resident of Nakhon Si Thammarat. He was apprehended later that evening.

All three are suspected of colluding in the premeditated murder of Anantachai Jariram, 20, and Pawina Namuangrak, 20, as well as possessing restricted weapons without permission.

Pawina formerly worked at Mr Panya's club. Police believe she was murdered out of jealousy as one of the suspects is known to have developed a crush on her but sources told the authorities it was unrequited.

She allegedly quit the club to distance herself from the unwanted suitor, police said, without naming the man.

Police are also searching for a Honda CRV with the licence plate Ko Lo 9444 (Phuket), and a Toyota Yaris. Police said GPS locations show they were both recently in Sa Kaeo.

Mr Sayan has refused to cooperate but police said their probe indicates he assisted the gunmen by pointing out the two targets.

The mother of Anantachai told officers her family is living in fear as the masterminds behind the double murder remain at large. She rubbished the jealousy motive as her son is gay.
