A group of six Chinese nationals lodged a petition with the Royal Thai Police on Thursday, calling for a probe into alleged police misconduct during a police raid in Chon Buri last month.
Accompanied by lawyer Sirichai Piyapichetkul, the men accused the police's arresting team of planting evidence and framing them for illegal gambling.
They also suspected that the raid was not legal.
The petition was accepted by Pol Col Kittisak Plathong, deputy chief of the Criminal Affairs Division.
Mr Sirichai said the petition was calling for a probe into alleged misconduct by a team of more than 10 police officers in Chon Buri during raid at a house in Bang Lamung district on Sept 18, in which his clients were arrested.
The lawyer said that the arresting team did not show a search warrant when they entered the premises and spent 14 hours in the home before setting up the scene to frame the men for illegal gambling.
According to Mr Sirichai, they were seated in front of computers and told to act like they were engaged in online gambling and the police took photos and made a video clip of the arrest.
The group was then taken to Nong Preu police station where they were charged with illegal online gambling and illegal entry. It was also alleged that they were forced to confess to the charge and not allowed to make phone calls.
During their detention, one of men managed to call a relative for assistance and later a lawyer stepped in and demanded five million baht for fees and "expenses".
The next day, the six men were released and given the seized items that they claimed did not belong to them, according to Mr Sirichai.
