KANCHANABURI: Two hunters were arrested with parts of wild boars in Srinakarin Dam National Park in Si Sawat district on Saturday night.

At 9.30pm officials on patrol spotted the headlights of two motorcycles riding out of the forest towards Pak Muang village in tambon Dan Mae Chalaeb, Thiti Somphi, chief of the Srinakarin Dam National Park, said.

When the officials signalled the two motorcycles to stop, they sped past, hitting and slightly injuring one official.

Officials pursued them and were able to arrest them.

One of the men -- Preecha Sonthuan, 46 -- was apprehended with the skin of a wild boar with seven bullet holes in it, along with the four legs of the animal, altogether weighing about 9 kilogrammes.

The other -- Preecha Songkramsak, 43 -- was arrested with parts of the skin and the head of the wild boar, weighing about 10kg.

The two hunters, both of Si Sawat district, were later brought to Si Sawat police station and charged with violating the National Park Act.
