PATTAYA: Two men and a woman were arrested for alleged theft of over 400,000 baht at a foreigner's luxury house early this month.

Pol Maj Gen Worapong Thongpaibul, a tourist police commander, said Wasant Panprem, 28, Rachot Khumsat, 37, and Napaporn Pradab, 27, were arrested after entering the house of Irishman Christopher Knight, 69, through an unlocked door late on the night of May 4. The house is located in an estate on Prapha Nimit Road in tambon Nong Prue of Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri.

They broke open a safe and stole 13,000 euros -- worth about 460,000 baht -- in cash, the commander said, and destroyed a security alarm and a computer server controlling security cameras at the house.

The suspects were arrested at the house of Ms Napaporn, Mr Rachot's wife, in Don Tum district of Nakhon Pathom, Pol Maj Gen Worapong said. He added that Mr Rachot said they exchanged the euros into baht and spent it on gold necklaces and rings.

Police seized 56,760 baht in cash, two gold necklaces, three gold rings, two gold bracelets, an amulet with a gold frame, a Toyota car, a mobile phone, a watch, an ATM card and a motorcycle.
