Animal rights advocates have moved closer to the place where Premchai Karnasuta works to protest alleged poaching involving the Italian-Thai Development president.

An artist wearing a mask placed two cutouts showing a wounded black leopard with blood and tears in front of the Italthai Tower sign on New Phetchaburi Road on Thursday.

Shortly afterwards, a security guard and a cleaner came to take them away.

The building is the head office of the listed construction firm.

Across the road, artists and members of A Call for Animal Right Facebook group also painted a graffiti on empty walls showing a black leopard with the messages “Justice For Wildlife” and “No Crimes Against Nature”.

The activists have stepped up their activities to urge police to quickly take action against Mr Premchai and three other suspects in the wildlife poaching case for fear the rich and famous would walk free.

The construction tycoon and the three other suspects were arrested in the Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary in Thong Pha Phum district in Kanchanaburi on Feb 4. Carcasses of protected wild animals including a black leopard were found at their campsite.

The leopard has since become the symbol of the fight of activists who are piling pressure on police to speed up the case.
