SAMUT PRAKAN - The body of a Philippine man who jumped off the cargo vessel Glory Marugame late Saturday night was found in the Chao Phraya River in Phra Pradaeng district on Monday.

The body of Silvester Kristoffer Depusoy, 25, was seen floating in the river about 200 metres from the pier of Wat Bang Hua Sua in tambon Bang Ya Phraek Monday morning.

Police and rescue workers retrieved the body and initially found neither traces of physical assault nor wounds. It was then sent to the Institute of Forensic Science for an autopsy.

Earlier staff of the Philippine-registered vessel told police that the man took off his clothes and jumped into the river in the same area where the body was later found.

Staff members said that Depusoy was a relative of the owner of the vessel but was assigned to be a waiter on the ship.

Seeing the jump, colleagues threw a life buoy at him but he rejected it, then raised his arms and sank, it was earlier reported. Rescue workers tried in vain to find him just after the incident.
