Schedule for cremation

The Bureau of the Royal Household revealed that 110,889 people came to pay their respects to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej on Thursday, the last day before preparations for the royal cremation began.

There were 12,739,531 visitors in total over the 337 days that Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall was open to the public. During that time, mourners donated 889,545,100 baht in dedication to the late monarch.

The full schedule is as follows:

Oct 25 (5.30pm): Merit-making ceremony before the urn is moved to the royal crematorium.

Oct 26: The royal cremation ceremony, which will be divided into three periods:

First period (7am): The royal mortuary urn will be transferred by royal wagon from Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall to the royal crematorium at Sanam Luang.

Second period (5.30pm): The cremation ceremony starts.

Third period (10pm): The cremation itself.

Oct 27 (6am): Collection of the late king's cremains.

Oct 28 (5.30pm): Merit-making ceremony for the late king's cremains.

Oct 29 (10.30am): The late king's cremains will be respectfully moved from Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall to Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall, where the cremains of all the Thai kings are kept.

Following this procedure, the crematory ashes of King Bhumibol will be brought to Wat Ratchabophit and Wat Bowonniwet Vihara, which are the temples of King Rama IX.

After the royal ceremony is over, the crematorium hall will be opened for the public to visit.
