THAI, Thai Smile to add flights for royal cremation

Thai Airways International (THAI) and Thai Smile Airways will schedule extra flights between the main domestic airports and Bangkok during the royal cremation ceremonies for the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

THAI acting president Usanee Sangsingkeo said the additional flights will operate from Oct 23-31.

Thai Airways Bangkok-Phuket flights will be increased to 11 roundtrips per day and Bangkok-Chiang Mai to five roundtrips, offering a total of 144 flights, or over 90,000 passenger seats, during the period.

Thai Smile will increase its Bangkok-Udon Thani flights to five roundtrips per day, Bangkok-Hat Yai to eight roundtrip flights, Bangkok-Surat Thani to three roundtrips and Bangkok-Narathiwat to two, operating a total of 440 flights with over 72,000 passenger seats.

THAI’s Ground Customer Services will provide assistance for group check-in. Passengers may check-in three days in advance of the departure date by calling THAI’s Head Office, tel 0-2545-4159, Monday-Friday (except public holidays) from 8am-5pm or Suvarnabhumi airport, tel 0-2134-5351/2 Monday-Friday (except public holidays) from 8am-4pm.
