Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will meet Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha in Thailand on Oct 30 to discuss international crime.

Gen Prayut said the visit was normal and the talk would focus on transnational crime cooperation.

“Let’s not speculate. It’s a chance to exchange views. And to meet [in person] is better than not,” he said.

In mid-May, Thai authorities threatened to shut down local access to the social media giant after Facebook failed to block quickly enough access in Thailand to certain pages they found illegal, mainly under lese majeste and computer crime laws.

They later came to an agreement in which Facebook would comply with the Thai requests so long as they come with court orders.
