CHON BURI: A police manhunt is underway for three armed men who held up a gold shop at a superstore in Muang district and made off with gold worth over 10 million baht on Wednesday night.

The three robbers, clad in black and wearing crash helmets, entered Tamnak Thong 5 gold shop at a Tesco Lotus superstore in tambon Samed of this eastern province about 7pm.

They stole 535 baht weight of gold ornaments, worth about 10 million baht, and fled on two motorcyles.

Provincial Police Region 2 chief Jitti Rodbangyang said on Thursday that teams of police were assigned to hunt down the robbers, media reported.

Footage of closed-circuit television cameras captured the thieves and their escape routes, Pol Lt Gen Jitti said. He declined to give further details.
