NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: A major drug dealer was arrested and almost 180,000 speed pills and 6kg of crystal methamphetamine seized from his house in Phrommakhiri district on Wednesday.
Sompong Thongsalak, 48, was apprehended after a combined team of police and soldiers found two boxes containing 80 bundles of 179,970 speed pills and six packs, each weighing one kilo, of crystal methamphetamine at the back of his house in tambon Thonhong, said Pol Maj Gen Wanchai Ekpornpit, chief of Nakhon Si Thammarat during a media briefing on Wednesday.

The bust came after police caught Chaiwut Meekaew, 20, with three speed pills on Tuesday. During an interrogation, Mr Chaiwut confessed to having bought the drugs from Mr Sompong.
A police investigation revealed that Mr Sompong had just received a large quantity of speed pills and crystal methamphetamine. Officers then searched his house, said Pol Maj Gen Wanchai.
Mr Sompong confessed to the drug charges, he continued, stating that a man identified only as Nisit had told him by phone to pick up two boxes containing the drugs left under a power pole at Wang Lung village in tambon Tonhong. Mr Sompong then hid the boxes behind his house before distributing smaller quantities of the drugs to dealers in Phommakhiri district and nearby areas.
He was held in police custody for legal action. Police were looking for the man identified as Mr Nisit.
