Cold in North, Northeast but rain in South

Weather forecasters are warning of big differences in the upper and lower parts of the country until early next week.

The northern and northeastern regions will see the  mercury drop around 3-5°C and even lower in mountainous areas and remain there until next Monday, the Meteorological Department said in the latest weather warning on Thursday.

But in the South, along the Gulf of Thailand from Surat Thani will likely see downpours and strong winds during the same period.

Temperatures in Bangkok will also drop by 3-5 °C until the weekend before rising again next week.

The lowest temperature on Wednesday was in Sakon Nakhon at 15°C, according to the weather bureau.
