Rock star Sek Loso reported to Bangkok police on Wednesday to acknowledge a charge of drug use after a urine test showed traces of methamphetamine and ecstasy.

The 43-year-old rocker, accompanied by his lawyer Mongkolvijit Dhanasophon and 27-year-old girlfriend Apisaya Pattanaworasap, showed up at Kannayao police station on Wednesday morning after a second summons was issued for him to hear the charge.

He greeted waiting reporters and said he would give an interview after giving his statement to officers.

The musician reported to station chief Pol Col Sing Singdet, acknowledging a charge of using a Type 1 drug. He did not respond to the first police summons to report on Jan 12.

Sek, whose real name is Seksan Sookpimay, already faces charges of unauthorised possession of a firearm, firing shots in a public area and resisting police.

The rock star was taken to Kannayao police station early on Dec 31 after police went to his house in Nanthawan housing estate in Bangkok’s Bang Khen district to arrest him for firing gunshots into the air and the ground in front of the statue of King Taksin the Great at Wat Khao Khun Phanom in Prommakhiri district of Nakhon Si Thammarat on Dec 29.

During the police operation, Sek allegedly remained in his bedroom and threatened to shoot police if they tried to enter.

Police later broke the door down and arrested him. Hois urine sample later tested positive for drugs.

In media interviews after reporting in, Sek denied using drugs. He claimed his urine turned purple during the test because of the medication he uses to treat his bipolar disorder. His lawyer would later give police samples of the medication and a certificate from a doctor treating him.

He underwent drug rehabilitation in 2012 after his estranged wife Wiphakorn "Karn'' Sookpimay posted images on Facebook showing the rocker using drugs. The pair had three children and they later divorced.
