SURIN: Six passengers were injured, two of them seriously, when a Phuket-Ubon Ratchathani tour bus overturned in Muang district of this northeastern province on Sunday morning, police said.

Pol Capt Nathapol Srinoy, a duty officer at Muang police station, said the accident took place at about 6.30am at kilometre marker 12 on Highway 226 opposite Ram Withaya School.

Narong Yindee, the tour bus driver, said the bus with 20 passengers on board left Phuket at about 7am on Saturday. On Sunday morning, he lost control of the bus while negotiating a curve where the road median is under repair, and the bus overturned.

When the police arrived, the bus was lying on its side, blocking one of the traffic lanes. Six passengers were injured, two of them with broken arms. They were admitted to Surin Hospital.
