A man who allegedly targeted women pedestrians in Bangkok by striking their legs with a sharp object was arrested on Monday.
Pol Col Kampon Ratthanapratheep, chief of Huai Khwang police station, said police initially pressed an assault charge against the man, and he would be taken to undergo a psychological examination. The man had no prior criminal record, he said
The arrest came after a message posted online on Sunday by Facebook user Pupae’z Kambalk. In the message, she said she had just recognised a man who struck her leg with a sharp object last week behind Big C Ratchada superstore in Bangkok. The man was apparently preparing to attack another woman pedestrian, she said.
She immediately alerted police, but he managed to flee.
After her Facebook message went viral, police tracked down the suspect and arrested him.
