NAKHON RATCHASIMA: The mother of a teen boy on Monday accused his former teenage girlfriend of raping him, countering her mother's earlier rape accusation, in the latest twist to a teacher-student sex scandal in this northeastern province.

The 41-year-old woman took her son to Bua Yai police station in Bua Yai district on Monday morning to file the rape accusation against the 14-year-old Mathayom 2 girl.

She said the complaint was to counter a recent rape accusation made by the girl's mother against her 15-year-old son.

The mother of the girl filed the complaint even though the two young people had lived together like a couple for more than a year in his room at her house, the boy's mother said.

Police at Bua Yai station accepted her complaint for further action.

The boy's mother earlier alleged the girl had a sexual affair with the director of her school. Copies of chats from the girl's LINE account, in which she was referred to as "wife" and "darling", were made public to support the allegation.

Nathaphop Boonthongtho, the 51-year-old director of Patong Thanoen Samakkhi School in Bua Yai district, has denied the charges, claiming his "enemies" were trying to frame him, and said he will fight them in court.

He has been charged with sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl and depriving her of parental care, and also faces a disciplinary investigation by education authorities.

Police at Bua Yai station heard the details of her complaint and afterwards convinced her to withdraw it. The boy's mother said she heeded the police advice to instead prove her son's innocence in court, to avoid unnecessary difficulties.

The boy is to meet police on Thursday to answer charges of separating a minor from parental care and raping her.

Mr Nathaphop will face the same charges on Wednesday.
