LAMPANG: A Spanish tourist has offered an apology for flying a paramotor over a famous temple revered by people across the country.

Victor Rodiguez went to Wat Phra That Lampang Luang in Ko Kha district on Saturday to apologise before the stupa for flying his aircraft above the temple on Friday.

He said he had no intention of insulting worshippers and admitted his behaviour was inappropriate.

His paramotor was seen circling the stupa several for several minutes on Friday evening, as people booed and shouting at him to come down.

After seeing the reactions from Thai people, he reportedly landed nearby, loaded the motorised paraglider onto a waiting pickup truck and quickly left the area with another foreigner.

Wat Phra That Lampang Luang is one of the most famous and well-respected temples in the northern region.
