Four killed in car crash in Chon Buri

CHON BURI: Four people were killed and two others seriously injured when a car crashed into the wall outside an apartment building in Chon Buri's Bang Lamung district on Sunday night, police said.

Four people were trapped inside the wreck and two others were thrown out of the vehicle by the impact.

Rescue workers called to the scene in tambon Na Klua about 9.30pm used a hydraulic claw to allow them to extricate the trapped victims from the heavily damaged vehicle and rushed all of them to hospital. Four succumbed to their injuries.

The dead were identified by police as the driver, Ampol Thawanorn, 29, his brother Phayu Thawanorn, 15, and Thanwa Kanha, 19. The fourth victim had not been identified.

Only one of the two injured survivors was identified - Weerayut Thawanorn, 23,  also a brother of the driver. Both victims were in serious condition and were transferred to Chon Buri Hospital.

According to witnesses, the car hit a bus stop before it crashed into the wall.

Police were investigating and said they would examine footage from the vehicle's dashboard camera and surveillance cameras in the area to determine the cause of the crash.
