The Spring News TV signal will be cut off at the end of next week because the station owes more than 100 million baht in unpaid fees accrued since 2016, Mcot president Kematat Paladesh announced on Wednesday.

Mcot Plc will end its broadcasting rental network partnership with Spring News Television Co on June 16, he said.

Spring News broadcasts on channel 19, which it rents from the Mcot network.

Mcot had notified Spring News about the need to pay the outstanding debt, but it had not been paid.

Mr Kematat said the Mcot executive could be accused of dereliction of duty if it did not take action against the news broadcaster.

Mcot had informed the National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission of the decision and the regulating agency agreed to it, he said.

Mcot is one of the four stations offering frequencies on the broadcasting rental network, known as MUX to other broadcasters. The other three are Thai PBS, NBT of the Public Relations Department,  and the army-run station.
