TRANG: A temporary bridge over the Trang River in Kantang district will be closed on Monday and Tuesday to make way for the laying of foundation piles for a new bridge.

The new bridge in tambon Khuan Thanee will replace the old bridge that has become dilapidated after more than 30 years of use. The damaged section covers about 80 metres, according to Jetsada Winson, director of the Trang rural road office.

The new bridge has been designed to link with a nearby road, with concrete foundation piles to be laid at the bridge-neck on the side of the road at Ban Khuan Thanee village for two days.

The temporary bridge near the new one will be off-limits to vehicles on Monday and Tuesday, said Mr Jetsada. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes until the temporary bridge reopens on Wednesday.
