The search continued on Monday for a 26-year-old male fashion model who fell from Rama VIII Bridge into the Chao Phraya river on Sunday afternoon.

Divers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation were looking for the body of  26-year-old Thammasorn Chaphakdee.

Police at Borwornmongkol station said his iPhone, a power bank and a pair of sandals were found on the bridge.

A witness, Wirat Singharn, 40, told police he was fishing under the bridge when he heard something hit the water. He saw a man apparently trying to swim to safety, then disappearing under the water about 50 metres from the riverbank.

Thammasorn's uncle, Pracha Chaphakdee, 50,  said his nephew had some financial problems but there were no signs that he was suicidal.

Police said a thorough investigation will be launched when the victim's body is found.

In early January this year, the body of an 18-year-old girl was found almost two days after she was seen in a livestreaming video jumping off Rama VIII bridge.
