Areas covered by coronation ceremonies will be divided into six zones for closer security surveillance, it was revealed as the command centre for the integration of safety and traffic management was launched on Thursday.

Police spokesman Piya Uthayo said intelligence units were working together to gather and assess security information over the coming days and weeks. So far, nothing which may pose a security concern has been detected.

Forty state agencies have joined the centre, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon, in mapping out the most effective security blueprint for the ceremonies.

Six security zones for the coronation ceremonies have been designated, each supervised by a top police commissioner who will be assisted by military personnel. Thorough checks of areas in each zone are being conducted. Details such as traffic volume in and out of sois are also recorded for devising an integrated security plan.

Pol Lt Gen Piya said there will be 21 security checkpoints to screen people entering the areas close to where the ceremonies will take place.
