Chinese direct-sales firm Infinitus (China) Ltd has rewarded its 12,700 employees for their work with a trip to Thailand, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

TAT acting governor Juthaporn Rerngronasa Infinitus staffers were travelling in groups of 2,000-3,000 each from May 10-26. The first group arrived on Sunday on a six-night package that takes in Bangkok and Pattaya.

They spend three nights in Bangkok and then three in Pattaya, near Chon Buri province, staying at four- to five-star hotels.

Ms Juthaporn said the company's incentive package is expected to generate around 600 million baht in tourism revenue.

The company planned to bring up to 20,000 staff to Thailand next year, according to Ms Juthaporn.

This mass tour would help offset the shortfall in Russian tourists to Pattaya and help stimulate the overall tourism sector during the slow season.

The company has reserved seats in 110 flights to carry its employees and with around 400 coach trips while they are here.
