Young bloods draw phones for online duel

The online gaming community is watching with interest after two so-called young blood politicians agreed to battle each other in the mobile phone fighting game Realm Of Valor.

Anti-coup campaigner Sombat Boonngamanong, also known as Bor Kor Lai Jud, said he has accepted a challenge from businessman Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit to play a round of the game in which teams of five use different characters to defeat one another.

The pair recently made news when they announced plans to set up new political parties to contest the general election.

Mr Sombat intends to set up the Krian Party (loosely translated as Firebrands Party) while Mr Thanathorn, a 39-year-old executive vice-president of the Thai Summit Group, is joining forces with well-known law expert Piyabutr Saengkanokkul of Thammasat University.

Speaking on a TV programmed hosted by red-shirt affiliated Jom Phetpradap, Mr Sombat said the battle will take place on the afternoon of March 18 at the gaming company's studio. The challenge, according to Mr Sombat, is likely to be broadcast via Facebook and YouTube.

The anti-coup activist said he would beat Mr Thanathorn. "He has made a big mistake challenging me to this game," he said.

Mr Sombat said he will team up with net idol Rungtawan "Mankaew" Chaiha while Mr Thanathorn will pair with Mr Piyabutr in the competition.

It is reported that Mr Thanathorn issued the challenge few days ago via Twitter and some websites have since tried to analyse each team's chances.
