The Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP) has been collecting information about alleged false accusations made against the party and its key members during the election campaign for submission to the Election Commission (EC).

Thanakij Jit-areerat, head of the PPRP's lawyers, said Tuesday the party's legal and IT teams are working together to gather evidence about smear campaigns against it and its leaders as well as its prime ministerial candidate Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha.

He said the alleged smear campaigns undermine the party and give the public an incorrect understanding about the PPRP and its policies. Formal complaints are expected to be submitted to the EC after the March 24 poll.

One of the allegations is that the PPRP was set up to help the regime prolong its stay in power, he said. According to Ms Thanakij, the PPRP is a political institution set up within the rules of the 2017 charter.

Mr Thanakij said the PPRP has also found irregularities involving the distribution of cash and valuables to voters by some parties and other offences that may provide a basis for a party dissolution investigation.
