The Election Commission has ordered the recounting of votes at two polling units in Khon Kaen province and re-voting at a few polling units in Bangkok, Lampang, Phetchabun, Phitsanulok and Yasothon.
The commission's office said on Thursday that recounts were needed for two polling units of constituency 3 in Nam Phong district of Khon Kaen because the first counts were inconsistent with the number of voters and marked ballots.
The order applied to polling unit 1 in Moo 1 village of tambon Bua Yai and polling unit 5 in Moo 5 village of tambon Muang Wan.
Fresh balloting was ordered for six polling units - in Bangkok, Lampang, Phetchabun, Phitsanulok and Yasothon provinces - because the number of voters who turned up did not match the number of marked ballot papers.
They are:
- Bangkok's constituency 13: polling unit 32 in Hua Mak sub-district of Bang Kapi district;
- Lampang's constituency 4: polling unit 6 in Moo 5 village of tambon Pang Luang and polling unit 3 in Moo 2 of tambon Sala in Ko Kha district;
- Phetchabun's constituency 1: polling unit 12 in Moo 12 village of tambon Khek Noi in Khao Kho district;
- Phitsanulok's constituency 2: polling unit 6 in Moo 6 village of tambon Ma Tum of Phrom Phiram district; and
- Yasothon's constituency 2: polling unit 6 in Moo 6 village of tambon Hua Muang in Maha Chana Chai district.
Sawaeng Boonmee, deputy secretary-general of the EC, said the recounts could be done at once, and dates for fresh balloting at those units would be set after the Songkran holiday.
