Six suspects in deep South bomb blasts arrested

Six of nine suspects wanted on arrest warrants for their alleged involvement in a string of coordinated bomb attacks in the deep South on May 20 have been arrested, says a task force commander.

Security forces were hunting down the remaining three suspects, Maj Gen Jatuporn Klamphasut, commander of the Pattani task force, said on Tuesday.

Authorities have heightened surveillance and intelligence operations following two explosions at ATMs in Hat Yat district of Songkhla on the evening of May 20 and numerous others in Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat. 

Police on May 27 issued warrants for the arrest of nine suspects wanted in connection with the coordinated blasts on May 20.

The nine were Muhamad Wae-useng, Nuradee Jae-useng, Arwae Hayeedeng, Abdulroning Porlee, Isadin Sa-ie, Isma-ae Arsae, Ilaham Sulong, Ilee-yas Tor-elae and Suhaimee Masae.

To date, Abulronng, Arwae, Isadin, Isma-ae, Nuradin and Muhamad have already been apprehended, said Maj Gen Jatuporn. 

The suspects were being interrogated.
