Govt websites hacked by Islamic group

Six Thai government websites were hacked early on Monday by an Islamic group calling itself Fallag Gassrini & Dr Lamouchi, reports said.

The hackers attacked the official sites of Lamphun, Sing Buri, Sa Kaeo and Tak provinces, as well as  Mahasarakham University's publishing house and Lam Luk Ka Hospital.

Pictures of Rohingya Muslims fleeing persecution in Myanmar and Muslim child victims of bomb attacks were posted on the sites.

The hackers left messages saying:

1. Your sites have been hacked by Fallag Gassrini & Dr Lamouchi hacker group from Tunisia.

2. You have to give respect to our people.

3. We, the Fallaga team, are Muslims.

4. We are peace-loving people.

This hacker group previously worked with other Islamic groups and hacked several Israeli and French websites, following the fatal shooting at the office of French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo that caricatured the Prophet Muhammad on Jan 7, 2015.

An official at the Ministry of Information and Technology Communication said the hacking was conducted simultaneously worldwide, using the Linux command line.

The official said updating the system can help protect the sites to a certain extent.

The ministry is checking the location of the server of this hacker group, the ICT official added.
